Crystal Zelman (she/her), owner and primary clinician for Morris County Play Therapy, is a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S), utilizing play therapy in her work with children, families, and adults. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and aCertified Child Life Specialist (CCLS), supporting children as a social worker since 2007. Crystal combines her experience, training, intuition, & client goals to create a tailored approach for each individual, working collaboratively with clients to lead and guide their work together. Crystal utilizes a variety of playful healing modalities in her work, such as play therapy, therapeutic art, sand tray, EMDR, pet therapy, and/or traditional talk therapy. She has extensive experience supporting children coping with their own (or a family member's) medical diagnosis/illness, children who are grieving the loss of a loved one, and children experiencing anxiety. Crystal has a passion for supporting children and adults in their journeys through grief, offering a safe space for all the feelings that accompany loss. Crystal has a strong background in Early Intervention, having supported children ages birth to 3 with developmental delays & their families for over 10 years. She also worked for over 9 years with children who had a parent or other family member with cancer, supporting children's inner resilience & coping. Crystal is also EMDR trained in working with both children & adults. Crystal facilitates workshops for professionals through both in-person & virtual continuing education opportunities. She also enjoys providing case consultation to other social workers who have a passion for working with children & are working towards their play therapy certification. Crystal is currently a Part-Time Lecturer at Rutgers University, teaching clinical social work classes to masters level students since 2015.
