Olivia Rivera (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and clinician at Morris County Play Therapy. Olivia works with children, adolescents, and families by meeting them where they are in life and utilizing various therapeutic interventions to meet their unique needs and goals. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social work with a minor in Psychology at Messiah University and her Master’s degree in Social work at Rutgers University with areas of emphases in mental and behavioral health as well as children, youth, and families. Since earning her MSW, Olivia has worked with children ages 4-18 and their families to serve and support them while dealing with various challenges and life stressors.
Olivia is passionate about giving children and adolescents a space to be heard and understood, and understands that at any stage in their lives there are different challenges and opportunities for learning, growth, and goal achievement. She believes that mental health is just as important as physical health and that children and adolescents deserve the time and space to work through challenging thoughts, emotions, and situations. Olivia has experience working with children and adolescents who struggle with: symptoms of impulsivity/inattention; challenges connecting with others in positive ways; learning disabilities; anxiety; and depression. Olivia understands and feels passionate about the vital importance that families play in being part of the therapeutic process to help their child or adolescent.
Olivia utilizes the following therapeutic styles when supporting children & families: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Grounding, Behavior Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy as she supports children and adolescents in working through challenging thoughts and big feelings, promoting positive changes, and shifting to more helpful perspectives.
